Derek Morgan is a former supervisory special agent with the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit, introduced in the television series Criminal Minds. Raised on the South Side of Chicago, he attended Northwestern University on a football scholarship before an injury led him to law school and a career in law enforcement. He served as an officer and bomb squad technician with the Chicago Police Department prior to joining the BAU as an expert on obsessive behaviors and tactical operations.

Morgan is known for his physical confidence, protective instincts, and grounded street smarts. Having survived childhood abuse and personal tragedy, he channels his experiences into relentlessly pursuing predators and standing up for vulnerable people. In the field, he acts as the tactical backbone of the team, balancing sharp profiling work with fierce loyalty to his colleagues.
