# folk, frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about folk: what it does, pricing, privacy, integrations, and setup on iMessage, Telegram, and WhatsApp.

## FAQ

### What is folk?

Folk is a personal AI teammate that lives where you already chat. iMessage, Telegram, and WhatsApp today, with more channels rolling out. Text it, and it gets things done. It has its own computer, schedules itself, and remembers what you talked about months ago.

### What can folk actually do?

Folk ships with skills for coding, research, web browsing, reminders, and scheduling. You can teach it new tricks by connecting any tool that speaks MCP (Model Context Protocol): your own APIs, databases, internal tools, anything.

### How do I talk to folk?

Sign up with your phone number and you'll get a number to text from iMessage, plus Telegram you can connect from your dashboard. WhatsApp is rolling out by region. No card is needed to start.

### Do you train on my data?

No. We don't and never will train models on your data. Your conversations and memory are yours.

### Where does my folk run?

Every folk runs in its own isolated sandbox with its own credentials. Nothing is shared between users. Your API keys, integrations, and conversation history never leave your folk's environment.

### How do I delete my account?

Go to your dashboard, open settings, privacy, delete my account. That cancels your subscription immediately and permanently removes your account, conversations, and memory. It can't be undone.

### What integrations work today?

Folk ships with built-in skills for coding, research, browsing, reminders, and scheduling. You can plug in anything that speaks MCP: Notion, Linear, GitHub, Postgres, your own internal tools.

### Can I bring my own API keys or models?

Yes. Folk runs your own Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter keys if you prefer, kept inside your sandbox, never shared. Usage on your own keys is billed by your provider and doesn't count against your folk usage allowance.

### How does pricing work?

Folk is free forever with a monthly fair-use limit and no card required. Folk Pro is $20/month or $150/year, and Folk Max is $100/month or $800/year - annual plans are billed once, upfront, and save you around a third. Paid plans add the background work: recurring routines, watchers, deep research, phone calls, and location nudges. Payments are handled by Stripe, and you can manage your card, see invoices, or cancel from settings.

### Is there a usage limit on paid plans?

Pro and Max come with a generous monthly usage allowance rather than a hard message count. Quick chats barely touch it; heavy model work (long research runs, big coding sessions, large documents) uses more. You can check your usage from settings, billing. If you hit the ceiling it resets with your next billing period, or bring your own API keys, which are billed by your provider and don't count against the allowance.

### Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from settings, billing, manage on Stripe. You keep access until the end of the current billing period.

### How do I contact the team?

Just tell folk in the chat that you need help. It files the ticket for you and the human reply comes back in that same chat, so there's no support portal to check. Folk is built by Nozomio Labs, a small team with fast replies.

### How is folk different from Poke or OpenClaw?

Folk lives directly in your iMessage, Telegram, and WhatsApp, no separate app required. It has its own isolated computer sandbox, persistent memory that grows with you, and connects to any MCP-compatible tool. Unlike Poke or OpenClaw, folk remembers every conversation and preference forever and runs scheduled tasks autonomously.
