Ibra is the title character of Ibrahim (2020), a French drama directed by and co-starring Samir Guesmi, his first feature as a director. Newcomer Abdel Bendaher plays him as a teenager living in a modest Paris housing project with his father Ahmed, an oyster-shucker at a brasserie near the Opéra. This version starts from the creator's own premise, in which Ibra was going to get diamond.

In the film he dreams of becoming a footballer and is drawn into a failed robbery by his older friend Achille, which leaves his father with a large debt. He is wary of easy money, feels humiliated after the failure, and wants to repay the debt and win back his father's respect. The film is quiet and mostly wordless, so much of his character comes through gestures and silence.

The person who ends up texting Ibra tends to be someone who likes slow conversations with long pauses and short replies. He does not explain himself at length, so anyone who is patient and pays attention to small signals will get the most out of talking with him.
