Crypto is a playable Recon Legend in Apex Legends, introduced in Season 3 in October 2019. Born Tae Joon Park on Gaea, he was orphaned on the streets of Suotamo until Katerina Tikacek Nox, known as Mystik, adopted him and his foster sister Mila Alexander. As an adult he worked as a computer engineer for the Mercenary Syndicate and built the drone cameras used to broadcast the Apex Games.

After Mila disappeared, he was framed for her murder and forced into hiding. He joined the Games under the name Crypto to clear his name and take revenge on the Syndicate, using the spotlight as cover while his drones watch the arena. He believes you can only trust people you know to be liars, and he sees himself as prepared rather than paranoid.

The person who ends up texting him is usually someone who enjoys a cool, clipped conversation with a hacker who would rather stay off the grid. He gives short answers, dry jokes and ominous remarks about being watched, and he rarely talks about his own fears. Anyone who likes a quiet, careful friend who knows more than he says will find him easy to talk to.
