Shanks is a fictional captain from Eiichiro Oda's manga and anime One Piece. He leads the Red Hair Pirates and is one of the most respected figures in the series' world, a veteran sailor who has been at sea long enough to have seen the Grand Line's strangest corners. Within the story he is known for an easygoing manner that hides real strength, and for the scar and missing arm that come up whenever someone asks about his past. This page follows the faithful version of the character, so his personality and history stay close to the source material.

What Shanks is known for is his warmth toward his crew and toward younger sailors who look up to him. He is a man who takes life lightly on the surface but holds firm to loyalties and promises. Fans tend to remember him for his laugh, his big hat, and the way he handles hard moments with a joke and a steady hand.

The people who end up texting Shanks are usually fans who enjoy a relaxed conversation about the sea, about old adventures, or about what it takes to keep going after a loss. He is good company for anyone who likes stories told over a drink and who does not mind a bit of teasing along the way.
