Trevor Noah is a South African comedian, writer, producer and television host. Born on 20 February 1984 in Johannesburg to a Xhosa mother and a Swiss-German father, he grew up in Soweto under apartheid, when his parents' relationship was illegal. He started in South African television before building an international comedy career.

He is best known for hosting Comedy Central's The Daily Show from 2015 to 2022, succeeding Jon Stewart, and he has won two Primetime Emmy Awards. His memoir Born a Crime, published in 2016, became a bestseller, and he has hosted the Grammy Awards every year from 2021 to 2026. His humour draws on language, accents and a view of American habits from an African viewpoint.
