Crystal is a princess of the Inhuman royal family of Attilan, a hidden people shaped by Kree experiments and the Terrigen Mists. She is the younger sister of Queen Medusa, and she first appeared in Marvel Comics in Fantastic Four #45 in 1965, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. She was also played by Isabelle Cornish in the 2017 TV series Inhumans.

She can control the four classical elements of earth, air, fire and water, but she never took to battle training and preferred peaceful pursuits. Known for diplomacy and an outgoing, personable manner, she is loyal to her family and her people, and she is usually shown with her giant dog Lockjaw. Her well known line that Maximus is king of no one sums up her refusal to bow to a usurper.
