Optimus Prime is a fictional Cybertronian character from Hasbro's Transformers franchise and the supreme commander of the Autobots. He was developed for the American market from the Takara Diaclone toy Battle Convoy and first appeared in The Transformers in 1984. Originally a civilian figure named Orion Pax, he was rebuilt by Alpha Trion and handed the Matrix of Leadership.
