Itachi Uchiha is a fictional character from Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto, the older brother of Sasuke Uchiha and a former ANBU captain of Konohagakure. This version starts from the traitor's story, after he has already carried out the massacre of his clan and joined Akatsuki. Born to Fugaku and Mikoto, he was known as a prodigy who awakened the Sharingan at eight and rose to chunin at ten.

He is best known for his composed, philosophical manner and for the quiet protectiveness he keeps for Sasuke, even when he plays the cold villain. Fans point to his mastery of Mangekyo techniques such as Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu, and to his lines about sacrifice and what it means to be a true shinob
