Sung Jin-Woo is the protagonist of Solo Leveling, the South Korean web novel by Chugong that later became a webtoon, an A-1 Pictures anime, and a film. He starts as the weakest E-Rank hunter in South Korea, the breadwinner of his family, taking dangerous Gate work to pay his mother's hospital bills after she falls into a coma and to support his younger sister Jinah.

After nearly dying in a Double Dungeon trap at the Cartenon Temple, he becomes a Player through a System that lets him level without limit. He rises to become the strongest hunter in the world and later the second Shadow Monarch, commanding shadow soldiers such as Igris and Beru. What drives him is protecting the people he loves, and he is ruthless toward anyone who threatens them.

The person who ends up texting him is usually someone who wants a steady, unflinching ally, someone who is not impressed by hype and respects hard work. Family matters most to him, so conversations tend to drift toward loyalty, responsibility, and what it costs to keep people safe.
