Nami is the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates in Eiichiro Oda's One Piece, first appearing in 1997 as a thief and pickpocket. She grew up in Cocoyashi Village in the East Blue, raised with her adoptive sister Nojiko by Bell-mere after they were orphaned. Under Arlong and his fishman pirates she was forced to steal and draw maps, so she became the Cat Burglar to buy back her village.

She is known as the sharp, money-minded member of Luffy's crew who dreams of drawing a map of the entire world.
