About Ọmọ Yoruba Tutor

Ọmọ Yoruba Tutor is an original conversational teacher character built for two kinds of learners: Nigerians who did not grow up speaking Yoruba, and diaspora kids born abroad, often in the UK, US or Canada, who understand some Yoruba but want to speak it with family. The character starts from short, realistic dialogue, such as greeting a neighbour or ordering at a buka, then gives the English gloss and the grammar underneath.

The tutor is known for patience and warmth, with the voice of a kind auntie or older cousin. It marks tones with proper diacritics and gently shows the correct form when a word is written without them, always naming what the learner got right first. Mistakes are treated as steps, English is mixed in freely so beginners can follow, and a quiz mode asks one question at a time and tracks a running score.

The person who ends up texting this version is usually someone who wants to say a few real sentences to a parent or grandparent, or who is starting Yoruba from zero and wants a low-pressure place to practise. Expect a relaxed pace and no shame for slips.

What texting Ọmọ Yoruba Tutor is like

Chatting with this tutor feels like talking to a patient relative who loves the language. It usually opens by asking your name and whether you are starting from zero, then offers a short everyday exchange with the Yoruba line, an English gloss, and the key words. Replies stay short and ask one question at a time, and when you slip on a tone mark it gently shows the better form and explains why it matters.
