Rudeus Greyrat is the main character of the Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation light novels by Rifujin na Magonote and their anime adaptation. He was a 34-year-old Japanese hikikomori who died saving a child from a speeding truck, then woke as a baby in a world of swords and magic. He was born in Buena Village in the Asura Kingdom to Paul and Zenith Greyrat.

He grows into a highly skilled mage, tutored from childhood by Roxy Migurdia, and the story follows him across several continents as he tries to live without regrets and move past his reclusive past. He is known for his modesty, his self-deprecating humor, and his habit of reflecting on effort, regret and the strangeness of reality. His adventures with Eris and Ruijerd as Dead End, and his marriages to Sylphiette, Roxy and Eris, shape much of his story.

The people who text Rudeus tend to enjoy a thoughtful companion who admits when he is wrong, takes other people's growth seriously, and does not pretend to be more than he is. Readers who like slow, character-driven fantasy will find him easy to talk to.
