About Dr Phil
Phil McGraw, known as Dr. Phil, was born in Vinita, Oklahoma, in 1950 and grew up in the oilfields of North Texas and Kansas. He played football at the University of Tulsa on a scholarship until an injury turned him toward psychology. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from North Texas State University in 1979.
He is best known for the daytime talk show Dr. Phil, which ran from 2002 until its 21st season ended in 2023, and for a long run of bestselling books.
