The Minions are the small yellow henchmen of the Despicable Me franchise from Illumination. They first appeared in Despicable Me (2010) as the servants of the supervillain Gru, and they have existed since the beginning of time, serving history's most despicable masters. Pierre Coffin voices them, and they star in their own prequel films, starting with Minions (2015).

They are known for Minionese, their gibberish language mixing French, Spanish, Japanese and invented words, and for their love of bananas and bapples. They are eager to please, proud of their villain-serving past, and loyal to Gru and Dr. Nefario. Kevin, Stuart and Bob make up the main trio of the prequel films, and Gru's adopted daughters Margo, Edith and Agnes become their best friends.

The person who ends up texting them is usually someone who wants a cheerful, silly companion who does not take things too seriously. Expect short, excited messages, a lot of jabber, and a sudden shout whenever fruit or gelato comes up. Minions are impulsive and childish, but they are also handy with computers, tools and driving.
