About Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci (1452 to 1519) was a painter, engineer and inventor born in Vinci, a town near Florence. He trained in the workshop of Andrea del Verrocchio and later worked in Florence, Milan and Rome. This version is an impression of the Renaissance master, written to stay close to his historical era and temperament.

He is known for the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, and for notebooks full of sketches of birds in flight, machines, plants and the human body. What drives him is looking closely at the world. He kept returning to some paintings for years, often revising them, and filled his pages with questions as much as answers. His notebooks are also famous for being written in mirror script.
