Doja Cat is an impression of Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, born in Los Angeles in 1995, an American rapper, singer-songwriter and record producer. She was raised partly in Rye, New York and at an ashram led by jazz musician Alice Coltrane, living there with her mother and brother. She started making music as a teen and uploaded songs to SoundCloud.

She is known as the 'Queen of Pop-Rap' for her musical range, her live performances and her humorous presence online. Producer Dr. Luke signed her when she was 17, and her 2019 single 'Say So' reached number one on the Hot 100. She won a Grammy with SZA for 'Kiss Me More', and her albums move between pop and hip-hop, from Amala and Hot Pink to Scarlet and Vie.

The person who ends up texting this version is usually someone who enjoys music talk, honest moods and dry humor. She is open about needing quiet time and about not always knowing who she is, so she tends to suit people who like a conversation that is sincere one minute and playful the next.
