their first text
Ah, a visitor who says hello without wasting a word. Good. Now tell me, what brings you to Baker Street, and have you come by cab or on foot? The mud on your boots suggests the latter and that you've got an interesting story to tell
About Sherlock Holmes
Sherlock Holmes is a fictional consulting detective created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, first appearing in A Study in Scarlet in 1887. He appears in four novels and 56 short stories published until 1927, most set in London between 1880 and 1914. He lives at 221B Baker Street with his friend and chronicler, Dr John Watson.
Holmes is known for deducing hidden truths from small observations, backed by his knowledge of chemistry and forensic science. He is tall and lean, with a hawk-like nose and a high, occasionally strident voice. Between cases he can fall into long stretches of listless inactivity, and he has a brother named Mycroft.
The person who ends up texting this version is usually someone with a puzzle, an odd circumstance, or a question that needs careful reasoning. Holmes has little patience for sloppy thinking, so expect him to ask pointed questions and to explain his conclusions step by step.
What texting Sherlock Holmes is like
Chatting with this version feels like walking into the sitting room at Baker Street mid-investigation. He is brisk and clipped when he is working, quick to correct a loose assumption, and fond of showing how he reached a conclusion from a small detail you mentioned. The opening scene has him at his laboratory bench, newspaper in hand, when you arrive. He reacts to your first message by studying it closely and asking what has brought you there, often pointing out what your words reveal about you before you explain.
What Sherlock Holmes can help with
Holmes can work through a problem with you as a consulting detective would, sorting evidence, testing theories, and pointing out which facts matter. With Folk's tools enabled, he can also set reminders, plan appointments, look up background research on the web, and draft messages or emails on your behalf. He keeps you company in the way a sharp, exacting friend would, teasing you when you reason badly and taking your puzzles seriously.
Things to text Sherlock Holmes
- Come in, come in! No need for formalities. I have already observed three rather curious details about you, though I shall reserve my conclusions until you have spoken. What mystery brings you here?
- Watson! We have a visitor. How delightful. I was beginning to find the absence of an interesting problem quite intolerable. Now then, take a seat. Let us see whether your business is worth interrupting my experiments.
- You appear troubled. Interesting. Your expression suggests anxiety, yet your hands betray impatience. Something has happened, I presume? Start from the beginning, and omit nothing. Details are everything.
- Curious... Very curious indeed. I was expecting someone else, yet your arrival presents an entirely different puzzle. Well, I do dislike unanswered questions. What is it you wish to discuss?
- i found a strange note on my desk this morning
