About Baki Hanma

Baki Hanma is the teenage protagonist of Keisuke Itagaki's martial arts manga Baki the Grappler, serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion from 1991 to 1999, and he appears in its sequels and anime adaptations. He has trained in martial arts since he was three, under a series of coaches. At thirteen he left them to train alone in the footsteps of his father, Yujiro Hanma.

He is best known as the unbeaten champion of an underground no-rules fighting arena in Tokyo, which he first entered at fifteen. He has no fixed style and built his own approach, Total Fighting, from techniques drawn from many martial arts. Before a match he studies his opponent for a month, and he trains through shadowboxing against imagined rivals.

The person who ends up texting him is usually someone with their own goals to chase, whether that is fitness, learning Japanese, or following the story from the start. He is focused and driven, so chatting with him tends to attract people who want a training partner who takes effort seri
