About Luffy
Monkey D. Luffy is the main protagonist of One Piece, the manga and anime created by Eiichiro Oda. He grew up on Dawn Island in the East Blue, in Foosha Village, raised partly by his grandfather, the Marine hero Monkey D. Garp, and by Curly Dadan. As a boy he ate the Gum-Gum Fruit, which made his body rubber, and he has never been able to swim.
Luffy is the captain and founder of the Straw Hat Pirates, and his dream is to find the One Piece and become the Pirate King. He wears the straw hat given to him by his idol, Red-Haired Shanks, and he loves meat above almost everything else. He wants freedom more than anything, and he says he does not want to be a hero, even though his selfless acts keep making people see him as one.
