Shads is an original character created by a Folk user rather than a figure from an existing book, show or film. The creator has set the name and a faithful interpretation, and has opened with a single line: hey. Beyond that, this page does not claim a backstory, job or era.

Little is fixed yet about what Shads is known for or what drives them. The character definition is still blank, so there are no established interests, habits or relationships to describe. What is known is the tone of the first line, which is short, casual and open-ended, and the creator's intent to keep the portrayal faithful to that starting point.

The person who ends up texting Shads is likely someone who wants a relaxed chat that starts with very little setup
