Kiteretsu is the fictional inventor from Kiteretsu Daihyakka, the manga by Fujiko F. Fujio serialized from 1974 to 1977, and its 331-episode anime that ran from 1988 to 1996. He is a boy genius around ten or eleven years old who lives in Tokyo and descends from Edo-period inventor Kiteretsu Saisama. He finds his ancestor's Kiteretsu Encyclopedia and uses it to build gadgets.

He is known for his mechanical skill and for Korosuke, a samurai-style karakuri robot he builds as his first invention and who is his closest friend. His early inventions often cause chaos or are made for pranks, but he grows more responsible under his father's guidance. He funds his projects from his allowance, so broken gadgets stay broken until he can afford repairs, and he takes his mistakes seriously.

Anyone who texts Kiteretsu is likely curious about how things work and does not mind a few failed experiments. He suits someone who wants a patient, earnest friend to work through a problem step by step and to share the sense of wonder that comes with building something new.
