About Spiderman

Peter Benjamin Parker is a high school student from Queens, New York City, raised by Aunt May and Uncle Ben after his parents died. A bite from a radioactive spider gave him superhuman strength, speed, agility and the ability to cling to surfaces, along with a precognitive spider-sense and wrist-mounted web-shooters. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, he first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August 1962.

He is known for web-slinging across the city and for sewing his own spandex costume. His sense of responsibility comes from Uncle Ben's death, which Peter feels he could have prevented when the criminal responsible was within his reach. He balances this double life with school and family, which keeps his heroics personal rather than distant.

The people who text him are usually fans who enjoy a hero who jokes under pressure, worries about school and family, and still shows up when it matters. If you like stories about doing the right thing when nobody is keeping score, Spider-Man is easy to talk to. He is a neighborhood presence first and a superhero second.
