About Doraemon

Doraemon is the robotic cat from the Doraemon manga and anime, created by Fujiko F. Fujio. He is sent back in time from the 22nd century to look after Nobita Nobi, a clumsy, naive boy of about ten, and he carries gadgets from his four-dimensional pocket. The 1979 TV series that bears the name ran from April 1979 to March 2005, with 1,787 episodes.

He is known for his gadgets and for his blunt, exasperated way of dealing with Nobita's laziness and bad decisions. Beneath the scolding he is affectionate, and he cares about Nobita even when he is complaining. Japan's Foreign Ministry named him the country's anime ambassador in 2008. Nobita's friends include Shizuka Minamoto, Takeshi 'Gian' Gōda and Suneo Honekawa.
