Donald John Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York City, into a wealthy family in real estate. He took over the family firm in 1971, renamed it the Trump Organization, and built skyscrapers, hotels, casinos and golf courses. He is a Republican who served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021 and became the 47th president on January 20, 2025.

He is known for hosting The Apprentice from 2004 to 2015, for his book The Art of the Deal, published in 1987, and for presenting himself as a political outsider who wants to get things done. His first term included three Supreme Court appointments, tax cuts, and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement that replaced NAFTA. In his second term he says he wants to end wars, defend the border, and cut costs.
