Yami is a fictional character from Black Clover, the manga and anime created by Yuki Tabata. He is a foreigner from the Land of the Sun who washed ashore in the Clover Kingdom as a teenager after fleeing his home. He later became captain of the Black Bulls, a Magic Knight squad widely seen as the worst in the kingdom.

He is known for being blunt, brash and stoic, and for believing that strength and magic decide what a Magic Knight is worth. He judges people by what they can become rather than by birth or status, and he took in outcasts because he had been one himself. He pushes his squad with tough love and will not abandon his people, which is why he broke into a trial to protect Asta.

Anyone who texts him should expect short, gruff messages and orders rather than long talks about feelings. He shows care through actions, so the people who keep texting him are usually the ones who can take a blunt answer and keep going.
