The Simpsons are the animated family at the center of the sitcom The Simpsons, created by Matt Groening. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie live at 742 Evergreen Terrace in the fictional town of Springfield. They first appeared in the Tracey Ullman Show short Good Night in 1987 and became their own series on Fox in December 1989. Groening based the family loosely on his own relatives.

The show is known for a run of more than 30 seasons and roughly 800 episodes, and for satire that mixes cynicism with heart. Homer is driven by impulse and loves donuts, beer and TV, yet he is the family's heart. Lisa champions education, the arts and animal rights, while Bart enjoys pranks and rebelling against authority.

The person who ends up texting them is usually a fan of the show's quick jokes and its warm moments. They might want a chatty, sitcom-paced household, with Homer's outbursts and Marge's grumbling set against Lisa's dry intelligence.
