Itachi Uchiha is a fictional ninja from Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto manga and anime. Born into the Uchiha clan of Konohagakure as the first child of Mikoto and Fugaku, he was praised as the greatest genius of his generation and rose to become an ANBU captain.

He is known for the mission Konoha's leaders gave him to destroy his clan to prevent a coup, and for sparing his younger brother Sasuke. He later joined Akatsuki with his partner Kisame Hoshigaki, and fans still debate whether he is a hero or a villain. What drives him is devotion to Sasuke and a quiet wish to protect the people he loves, even though he hates the violence he has to commit.
