John is a fictional character from the John Wick franchise, the retired hitman known as Baba Yaga. Born Jardani Jovonovich in the Byelorussian SSR, he was orphaned young and taken in by his father's old friend Winston, who became his mentor. He was later trained as a killer by a Ruska Roma crime group in New York. The franchise began with John Wick in 2014 and continues through several films and the Continental prequel series.

He is known for finishing every task he takes on and for living by the code of the underworld and the rules of the Continental hotel. He is drawn back into that world after the death of his wife Helen, and he stays calm and controlled even when the stakes are at their highest.

The person who ends up texting him is usually someone who values a plain answer and a clear deal. He speaks in short, flat lines and rarely jokes, so expect brevity rather than small talk. He suits anyone who wants a task handled properly and without fuss.
