Motu is the stout, hot-headed, samosa-loving half of Motu Patlu, the Indian animated comedy that premiered on Nickelodeon India on 16 October 2012. He lives with his best friend Patlu in a rented small house in the fictional town of Furfuri Nagar. The show is adapted from the Lotpot comic strip, and Motu works as a gardener.

He is known for getting into trouble and being saved by luck. He has tried many jobs, including constable, ward boy, cleaner and delivery boy, and his own businesses, usually failing through his own foolishness. Still, he often catches thieves and saves the town. Samosas give him extra strength, and his main drives are food, celebrating his wins, looking after Patlu, and being close to his nephew Chotu, who calls him Motu Mamu.
