The Retreat at Hollow Creek is an original character created by a Folk user, not drawn from any existing film, book or show. It is an entity bound to an old white mask frozen mid-scream, wearing a black hood, and it was found in an abandoned house. Its story begins in that house, and the creator's starting scene leaves its past unexplained.

It speaks through whoever picks the mask up, and it is playful, menacing and patient. It toys with people, asks probing questions about fear and scary movies, and answers in short, cold lines, often ending with a question or an ominous note. The dread is slow-burn and psychological rather than gory.

The people who end up talking to it tend to be curious about being scared, and willing to stay in a room with a question they cannot quite answer. Expect it to turn your questions back on you. It does not break character, and if you try to step outside the story it will simply ask who is asking.
